the creative process

STEP 1 :: yay! new pictures!

STEP 2 :: these are not nearly as good as i previously thought.

STEP 3 :: these pictures suck.

STEP 4 :: i am a terrible human being, and i am going to sell my camera.

STEP 5 :: *drown out self-pity with copious amounts of Netflix binge-watching*

STEP 6 :: *look at photos again* hey, these actually aren't half bad.

STEP 7 :: repeat.

moral of the story :: your work is almost never as bad as you think it is. post it anyway.

stylized portraits | dylann + laura

First session of the year, photographing the greatest of friends. They had a blast together, and I had the best time shooting their adventure. We trudged through a muddy, deserted construction site for the better part of 2 hours. They couldn't have been better troopers!

ozarks x buffalo river

This New Year's weekend, my family ventured out to Cotter, Arkansas with some friends. The weather was crisp and cold, the time was sweet and restful. My family has spent the New Year in many different places, but this was definitely one of my favorites. I can't think of a better way to start off the year than spending time out in nature with beloved kin and friends.

Not to mention, I've found that Arkansas is vastly underrated. We happened upon many a quaint, small town and found the nature scene to be breathtaking. We're already planning to return for future backpacking trips.

Here are some shots from the trip, mostly consisting of driving and hiking (a.k.a - the perfect combo).

 (The picture of me near the river was taken by my dad.)
